Factorio is a game in which you build and maintain factories.

You will be mining resources, researching technologies, building infrastructure, automating production and fighting enemies. Use your imagination to design your factory, combine simple elements into ingenious structures, apply management skills to keep it working and finally protect it from the creatures who don't really like you.

Note: Any section that deal with ratios assume no modules and consistent assembly machines.
These are intended only as a starting point, for advanced ratios use a calculator.
Common Formula for Machines Needed: (Items per craft/base craft time) * (machine craft speed*productivity bonus)

Yellow Belt 6.66 i/s 13.33 i/s 1x
Red Belt 13.33 i/s 26.66 i/s 2x
Blue Belt 20.00 i/s 40.00 i/s 3x

Belt Density: Maximum Items fit in one tile
Belt Throughput: Items per second (i/s) passed over one belt tile
Red belt is exactly twice as fast as a Yellow belt, and a Blue belt is exactly three times as fast a Yellow belt.

Note: Smelting steel takes a lot of furnaces!

Smelting iron, copper, and stone each take a base 3.5 seconds to finish. Smelting steel takes 17.5 seconds.

The Vanilla game has all reasearch balanced in number of different science packs required.
However the different science pack themselves have various crafting times and outputs.
Since they all have different crafting times, you'll need a different number of assemblers making each science to prevent bottlenecks.

Here is a 2x ratio science pack blueprint book that will produce 90 of each per minute using blue assemblers.
